How do I know if I have bed bugs?

There are signs of bed bugs, such as bites (see right). The bugs may be visible - usually hiding in dark corners - but it is quite common for people to confuse bed bugs with mites or fleas.
It is therefore highly recommended that you seek an expert opinion from bed bug experts as soon as possible. The longer that you leave it the worse the infestation will become, spreading to other rooms in the building.
Can I treat it myself?
We strongly advise against using the 'home bed bug treatments' kits that are available. You may reduce the number of bed bugs that are there but you are very unlikely to eradicate them completely. This will mean that in a short time the problem will return.
What will happen if I call Merlin?
When you call Merlin, in the first instance we will discuss your problem over the phone and advise you on the likelihood of it being bed bugs. We will then arrange a visit to assess the problem, and if required, and with your agreement, we will carry out a treatment on the first visit. You will be advised of any costs before proceeding.
We will then carry out a subsequent visit within 21 days to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and carry out further treatment if required. However our unique treatment programme - the most environmentally friendly available, minimising or avoiding the use of chemicals - is usually effective with just a single treatment.
